CRUCIBLE'S JOURNEY

OUR STORY.

The Crucible community began as part of the English Ministry of a Chinese Alliance Church in South Richmond. The decision to step out on our own wasn’t easy, and those first few years came with plenty of challenges—especially for such a young congregation. But through every season of change—structure, location, staff, and membership—God kept us together. We learned to lean on His faithfulness and on one another.

Being a new church wasn’t easy—but it was worth it.

By God’s grace and lovingkindness, Crucible has grown into the community you see today—a church that celebrates ethnic and cultural diversity. Our vision for diversity comes straight from John’s revelation in Revelation 7:9, where every nation and tribe gathers before the throne of God in worship. That’s the kind of community we long to be.

In the summer of 2022, God called Sam and Ruby Lim, along with their family, to serve at Crucible. With nearly 20 years of pastoral experience walking with students, young adults, and families, Sam and Ruby quickly fell in love with the people God had preserved and protected here.

There was lots of work to be done—but it was good, hopeful work. Work that meant loving people well. Work that meant doing life together. Work that involved creating safe and welcoming spaces where people could belong, build friendships, and grow in their faith. It was about following Jesus together and sharing His story—and that continues to be our heartbeat today.

God began showing us the incredible potential Crucible has—to love deeply and make a growing impact not only in Richmond but across Greater Vancouver.

We believe God is the one writing Crucible’s story. Since 2022, we’ve seen Him breathe new life into our community. We’re now a growing, vibrant family of people from all ages, cultures, and walks of life—brought together by Jesus to be His body. It’s been such a joy to witness His renewal here.

And we’re excited about what’s ahead! God is still growing His Church, and we’d love for you to be part of that journey. Together, we’re seeking the Father’s heart for our church, our city, and our world.
